First haircut and first place

A while ago we took Kylan to Bruce Berg for some pictures and also to enter him in the Lane county baby photo contest. We got a call this week that we were invited to the awards ceremony and that his picture had won a prize- but they wouldn't say more than that. When Kylan's category (3- 12 mos.) was called we were hoping for honorable mention; but were shocked when he was called for first place. We won a framed 8 x 10 and a few gift certificates to local businesses. Very exciting!

Kylan had his first haircut this week. He was very good and didn't seem to mind a bit. He loved looking at his reflection in the large mirror and was very curious watching Katie cut his hair. I couldn't believe the difference it made.

And some other pictures....
Loves crawling all over the house and very fast too

Loves playing outside... but will hardly keep a hat on

And he LOVES gnawing on apples. He has sat for 30 minutes before just sucking and chewing on an apple. I think it feels good on his gums. He has 3 teeth now. Two on the bottom and the top left just came through.

Oh, it's been a while! Since the last update Kylan has learned to crawl (all over the house) and pulls himself up everywhere. He's so busy! Walking seems close- he's taken a few tentative steps away from security but still gets nervous. He still loves to eat everything in sight. We also learned at our last appt. that he is getting his canines in first before his front top teeth- pretty rare the doctor said. He'll be our little dracula!

March Pics

Kylan has been busy! Learning new things like rolling to a sit up position, pulling himself up and eating new foods.

Playing outside on one of the first nice days. Eating everything in sight is very important on days outside.

We always get good smiles at his favorite time of the day- dinnertime!

Big blue eyes

Trying to figure out why his shoe doesn't roll down the chute

Playing with Hallie- trying to fend off his first kiss. Hallie was very persistent- good girl!!

9 months

I can't believe Kylan is 9 months old. He is so amazing and perfect. Here are a few of our favorites.

If you look closely at the one above you can see his first tooth (the second one isn't quite big enough to show).

February Photos

Here are a few new photos from this month. Kylan's favorite thing to do is still play in the bath. He especially loves eating his large, yellow duck and chasing it in the bubbles.

A few weeks ago we went to visit the Great Grandparents in North Bend.

And most recently, Kylan's second tooth broke this week. His first tooth is getting bigger so I think I'll be able to get a picture here soon. He is so cute! These pics are the new finger foods he is eating. Right now his favorites are corn, peas and bananas. He can spend 20 minutes pinching food in his fingers and trying to get them to his mouth. He has about 50% accuracy right now but he is so proud to be feeding himself he smiles and coos the entire time.

A tooth!

Kylan's first tooth emerged a little over a week ago! It is on the bottom, right side. I tried all weekend to take a picture of it... but he was being very modest and wouldn't allow a shot quite yet. As soon as I can though it will be posted.

Ahh sleep...

So up to Thanksgiving Kylan was sleeping pretty good. He'd go down and sleep for 4 hours then wake up to eat and then back to sleep until 6 in the morning. Then the holidays came and his sleep has been messed up ever since. So for the last 2 weeks we have been working on getting back to the old routine and breaking some bad habits we have developed. Some nights it takes Ky 2-3 hours to actually go to sleep but it has been worth it. Last week he slept between 5-7 hours each night- a miracle for him and us! However we are practical and realize this might only last a while but we are sure enjoying our much happier and peaceful evenings!
